Hailing from Florida, A Day to Remember (ADTR) are known for their unusual but infectious combination of pop punk and metalcore as well as for their mosh pit-worthy live energy. For over a decade, they were told this particular combination doesn’t work but ADTR’s loyal fan base would certainly beg to differ. Undeterred by most music listeners’ need to label bands, they’ve gone on to carve out their own little niche. Since their maiden GMM show in 2010 they’ve released two albums. The critically acclaimed ‘Common Courtesy’ (2013) helped them break into the mainstream but follow-up ‘Bad Vibrations’ (2016) marked a return to the band’s roots: lyrically, reflections on the tougher aspects of life alternate with light-hearted themes, and the combination of different styles makes for a varied album without any one track feeling out of place. Initially delayed because the mixing and artwork weren’t finished, their latest slab, ‘You’re Welcome’, still hasn’t seen the light of day due to Covid-19. Tracks off the new CD will undoubtedly feature prominently in their GMM set so brace yourselves! (#GMM22)
