Played at Graspop Metal Meeting
2008 / 2009 / 2016 / 2019

Claiming that Graspop Metal Meeting is partial to Dutch symphonic metal is a bit of an understatement. Delain was founded back in 2002 by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt but it wasn’t until 2005 and the recruitment of singer Charlotte Wessels that things really took off. The symphonic metal band has since released five albums and in the past have toured both the US and Canada extensively in support of top acts such as Nightwish and Sabaton. Singer Charlotte Wessels has both range and emotion and like so often in symphonic metal the songs are larger than life. Their darkest and heaviest disc to date, ‘The Human Contradiction’ (2014) is still an album that builds a welcome bridge between pop and heavier music genres and their most recent effort ‘Moonbathers’ (2016) was universally hailed as their most mature and consistent album yet.
