At the start of the new millennium we were first introduced to Chicago-based Disturbed. Right off the bat they scored a world hit with ‘Stupify’. For the sake of convenience they were lumped in with the nu-metal crowd but the label didn’t stick: frontman David Draiman & Co have a musical portfolio that is clearly more diversified. Over the years they gradually developed into one of the heavy hitters in the heavy music segment, as illustrated by the reception enjoyed by their recently released new record ‘Divisive’. Two of the main drivers of Disturbed’s success are their excellent songwriting skills and the almost complete lack of personnel turnover. They took a prolonged breather from 2011 to 2015 but since then it’s been full steam ahead again. They also like to surprise the fans from time to time. For instance, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx made a guest appearance during their set at the 2016 edition of GMM. Disturbed know what is expected of them: to entertain the crowd. With a slew of hits and top covers with the ability to silence a crowd of 50,000, they have plenty of ammunition to do just that. #GMM23
