Biography

Dog Eat Dog formed in a New Jersey basement in early 1990. Things started happening for them when they were snaffled up by Roadrunner Records, who released their maiden EP ‘Warrant’ worldwide in 1993. The following year saw the release of their full-length debut with ’All Boro Kings’ featuring the prominent saxophone sound that characterised their early output. The album set a milestone in the then burgeoning crossover genre as one of the first to fuse hardcore punk and rap while on subsequent recordings they also incorporated ska, hip hop and funk. Standout tracks such as ‘Rocky’, ‘Who’s the King’, and ‘No Fronts’ are long since regarded as genre classics and they performed their debut in its entirety to commemorate its 25th anniversary; Trix in Antwerp was one of the venues to be razed to the ground on that occasion. After some difficult years trying to free themslves from record company obligations, ‘Walk with Me’ dropped in 2006 to end a seven year recording drought. Despite the absence of new material since then, Dog Eat Dog still don’t pull their punches so be sure to catch these legends live on stage! (#GMM20)
