It’s good to let your hair down on occasion. Just ask the lads from Every Time I Die: for close to 20 years, they’ve been going for broke every time they hit the stage. They didn’t make their GMM debut until 2013 but this is the second time they’ve been back since. Formed in Buffalo, New York, Every Time I Die have recently released their 8th full length, the successor to the much acclaimed ‘From Parts Unknown’ (2014), a seminal release that saw the band reinvent itself and breathe new life into a formula some claimed had become too standard to be anything but stale. Follow-up ‘Low Teens’ (2016) is the perfect synthesis of everything the band has put out. ETID have never been afraid of breaking genre conventions. Metalcore seasoned with southern metal and mathcore influences while experimenting with the flute and ambient elements makes for an unusual combination. Still, this great live band is a must-see and not just for die-hard metalcore fans. (#GMM17)
