Death Metal

The eternal city of Rome is the home base of death metal sensation Fleshgod Apocalypse. The Italians put an entirely new slant on technical death metal. On each of their four albums to date and despite the use of classical instruments, they manage to generate the typical death metal ferocity and brutal aggression. Their critically acclaimed third album ‘Labyrinth’ (2013) struck the right balance between the guitar-oriented attack of ‘Oracles’ (2009) and the orchestral approach on ‘Agony’ (2011). Death metal growls and soaring operatic vocals, scorching-fast volleys of double kick, symphonic arrangements and crunching guitars create a sonic landscape where Fleshgod Apocalypse reigns supreme. Their fourth album ‘King’ (2016) further perfects their performance on ‘Labyrinth’. It’s a concept album where each track tells the story of one of the members of the king’s court. Meanwhile Tommaso Ricardi (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) and Cristiano Trionfera (lead guitar) have left the band but the versatility of Francesco Paoli (lead & backing vocals, drums, rhythm guitar) and the addition of two new live members has taken care of this problem. These Italian death metal royals are ready for another GMM triumph. (#GMM19)
