Biography

Is there life after Motörhead? Of course there is, rock ‘n’ roll never dies! Drummer Mikkey Dee joined the Scorpions to rock like a hurricane and guitarist Phil Campbell & sons joined forces with vocalist Neil Starr under the monniker Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons. Ever since their formation they’ve been touring intensively, playing stages large and small. Following the release of their first EP they’ve opened for the likes of Airbourne, Saxon and Guns ’n Roses. Just last year their first full-length dropped with ‘The Age of Absurdity’. It would have been easy to use the Motörhead blueprint but while the Motörhead vibe is often within reach, the album features a collection of tracks that can easily stand on its own. Neil Starr’s vocals make the album more readily accessible than Lemmy’s gruff voice could. For some that’s a good thing, for others it’s not. It simply depends on your preference but no one will deny that ole Phill has a knack for writing great rock songs. (#GMM19)
