Saying that Sabaton have always been a crowd favourite is undoubtedly an understatement. In 2010 they not only blew our socks off; their signing session later that day generated one of the longest queues ever at GMM. Sabaton’s first live release ‘World War Live: Battle of the Baltic Sea’ captures the essence of the band’s live prowess. Sabaton have the live thing down to a T and with his easy and humorous stage banter, frontman Joakim Brodén knows how to work a crowd. The Swedish panzer battalion’s previous stop in Dessel highlighted the tracks off ‘The Last Stand’ (2016), a concept album that regaled the listener with epic tales of famous historical ‘last stand’ battles. Brodén and bassist Sundström are the only surviving founding members but the new Sabaton line-up has long since matured into a well-oiled machine and they are ready for yet another Primo Victoria. With a bit of luck they may even throw in a few tracks off the upcoming new album so close ranks and march on proudly because Sabaton are back! (#GMM19)
