In the late 80s and early 90s, American heavy rock band Skid Row was all over the airwaves and stages across the globe. The rise of MTV contributed to the success of their first two albums ‘Skid Row’ (1989) and ‘Slave to the Grind’ (1991), with both attaining multi-platinum status and yielding hits like ‘18 and Life’, ‘I Remember You’ and ‘Youth Gone Wild’. ‘Subhuman Race’ (1995) also shifted a respectable number of copies but in 1996 they folded in spite of 20 million album sales. They band was resuscitated in 1999 but new singer Johnny Solinger was never able to fill the shoes of the immensely popular Sebastian Bach. In 2006 they recorded their fifth album ‘Revolutions per Minute’ but their erstwhile success continued to elude them… until 2022, when Swedish frontman Erik Grönwall (ex-H.E.A.T.) infused a shot of much-needed new energy into the band and the excellent ‘The Gang's All Here’ (2022) recalled the heady days of their self-titled debut. #GMM23
