The Shrine describe their music as ‘psychedelic violence rock ‘n’ roll’ and who are we to contradict them? The Shrine set themselves apart from the competition by fusing classic rock ‘n’ roll, punk and heavy metal. Based in Venice Beach, LA, these three skate punks defy categorisation as a straightforward punk rock band thanks in part to guitarist Josh Landau’s licks. In fact, The Shrine sound like a hybrid of Black Flag and Black Sabbath. Just listen to ‘Primitive Ways’ (2012) and you’ll see what we mean. The rock ‘n’ roll vibe features more prominently on their sophomore effort ‘Bless Off’ (2014), an album that contains more diversity in terms of song structures. Last year’s ‘Rare Breed’ takes it to the next level with jaw-crushing riffs, ripping solos and excellent rock ‘n’ roll for the new millennium.
