One of the most surprising additions to this summer’s bill so far is American band Touché Amoré. Called a post-hardcore band by some and a melodic/progressive hardcore band by others, these guys want to hit a nerve by taking a slightly less brutal approach to writing lyrics than the average band on our stages. For instance, their entire fourth album, ‘Stage Four’ (2016) deals with the death of frontman Jeremy Bolm’s mother, who died of cancer two years ago. The subject matter makes the songs eerily recognisable to many. They are experts at transferring their emotions to their audience so it’s not a surprise that their exceptionally loyal fan base has been growing steadily since their inception in 2007. If you’re not familiar with Touché Amoré, their 2013 masterpiece ‘Is Survived By’ is the perfect introduction: honest, heartfelt and brimming with emotion, post-hardcore-meets-indie-meets-punk. Enjoy!(#GMM17)
