The Los Angeles based duo of Twin Temple brings an ode to the 50s and 60s which they themselves describe as ‘satanic doo-wop’. In terms of popularity, their singular way of singing the praise of the Horned One and everything this entails is becoming more popular with each passing year. They preach the core satanic principles of tolerance and the liberation of the self by going back to rock as the earliest origins of metal. Song titles as ‘Let’s Hang Together’, ‘Satan’s a Woman’ and ‘The Devil Didn’t Make Me Do It’ speak for themselves. Alexandra and Zachary James are the high priests in Twin Temple. Alexandra’s long satin dresses and Zachary’s perfectly tailored outfit are adorned with satanic imagery; his greaser haircut and her beehive hairdo complete the look. But don’t be fooled because Twin Temple is about much more than the look, they also have the chops to back it up. Alexandra’s jazzy voice and captivating stage presence alone make the Twin Temple experience worthwhile. The use of a Hammond organ and well-placed saxophone bursts enhance the 50/60s atmosphere. Travel through time and invert those crosses with Twin Temple. (#GMM22)
