Biography

Twisted Sister’s 2012 Graspop debut was one of the most memorable gigs ever in Dessel and the following year they repeated that performance when they topped the bill on Friday. Twisted Sister’s most popular albums may date back to the 1980s but the Long Island band is still a force of nature on the live stage. Not surprising, really, when your discography includes ultimate sing-along tracks such as ‘We're Not Gonna Take It’, ‘S.M.F.’ and ‘I Wanna Rock’. Their classic albums ‘You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll’ (1983) and ‘Stay Hungry’ (1984) still rank amongst the best heavy rock albums ever. Unfortunately, it looks like this will be their last appearance at GMM. In March of 2015, Drummer A.J. Pero passed away in his sleep. One month later the band announced they would call it quits after an extensive farewell tour with ex-Dream Theatre icon Mike Portnoy behind the kit. (Text: Wim Vander Haegen / Translation: Nick Devos)
