London-based Voodoo Six was formed in 2003 when bassist Tony Newton (bass), guitarist Richie Faulkner and drummer Dave Cavill decided to quit Deeds (formerly known as ‘Dirty Deeds’) and start a new project. Vocalist Henry Rundell and guitarist Matt Pearce joined two years later. Iron Maiden took the band under their wing and Voodoo Six opened for Maiden on several occasions. In 2009, Luke Purdie took over vocal duties from Rundell and his arrival gave the band new momentum, resulting in Fluke (2010), the band’s second full-length effort. Like their illustrious examples, Voodoo Six play a contemporary brand of hard rock but without abandoning traditional heavy metal roots. Their 2011 EP ‘Falling Knives’ embodies everything the band stands for: classic hard rock with firm NWOBHM roots. There’s no exact date or title yet but new material is set to be released sometime this year.
