Heavy Metal

Antwerp speed metal/blackened heavy metal sensation Bütcher first emerged in the underground scene of the mid-noughties. With no ambitions to pursue a professional career in music they bowed out after two demos and a host of live shows that saw them elevated to cult status. The band resurfaced in 2014 under the impulse of guitarist/songwriter KK Ripper and frontman R Hellshrieker. In the following years they developed their own vision and brand of metal, firmly rooted in the golden 80s. Three years later they were the driving forces behind the band’s first studio album ‘Bestial Fükkin' Warmachine’ (2017). Bütcher were subsequently snatched up by the famous Osmose label (Marduk, Enslaved, Immortal, Absu, etc.) and their sophomore release ‘666 Goats Carry My Chariot’ (2020) garnered rave reviews and exploded their fan base, not just in Belgium but abroad in particular. Finally the years of relentless touring at home and across Europe started to pay off. Thanks in part to the unique sound of the fully analogue recordings, their second album does a fantastic job of harnessing the emotions and energy Bütcher generates in a live environment. Still, the stage is still where they truly come into their own. Bütcher shows are invariably sweaty, high-octane affairs and once the charismatic R Hellshrieker lights the fuse, total pandemonium ensues. They may not have played in front of an audience this size before but they are hungry, vicious and relentless. Bütcher is coming for you and will wreck your neck. (#GMM22)
