Played at Graspop Metal Meeting

Seattle, the Emerald City... Just as green as the hallowed metal grounds in Dessel. Of course, Seattle also has a reputation as the world’s grunge capital. Although several famous grunge bands were thwarted by the early demise of their frontman, there was more than enough quality left to choose from. Take Candlebox, for instance. Their eponymous debut was released in 1993 and went four times platinum, putting them at the forefront of the post-grunge scene at the time. On later records they leaned towards hard rock infused with grunge, rock and blues elements, an evolution that was already obvious on their second album ‘Lucy’ (1995). The new CD also went certified gold but their popularity waned from ‘Happy Pills’ (1998) onwards. The band split in 2000 but was revived six years later in a slightly different line-up. ‘Into the Sun’ (2008) ended a ten-year recording drought and they’ve continued to record and tour since, albeit in a varying line-up with vocalist Kevin Martin as the only founding member. In 2018 the original line-up celebrated the 25th anniversary of their debut by performing the record in its entirety on a number of occasions .This summer they’re playing several festivals including Graspop Metal Meeting.
