Formed in 1995, Godsmack is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Sully Erna. Thanks to the combination of Erna’s ominous singing style, chugging stop-and-go riffs and a powerhouse rhythm section the band quickly outgrew the local Boston club scene. Before long, they embarked on their first headlining tour and secured a slot on the 1999 Ozzfest tour. Some of Godsmack’s influences include Alice In Chains, Black Sabbath, Pantera and Led Zeppelin. They are extremely popular stateside, with three consecutive No 1 albums to prove it. Early in the new millennium, support slots for Metallica and Limp Bizkit helped Godsmack grow a European fanbase and their popularity has been increasing ever since. In 2014, Godsmack released yet another stunner of a record with ‘1000hp’ and just last year they toured Europe in support of their great new disc ‘When Legends Rise’ (2018), which sees them broadening their musical horizons, albeit without an earthquake shift in style. Their November 2018 concert at Trix, Antwerp, sold out more than one month in advance. (#GMM19)
