Hippotraktor

The Belgian metal scene is thriving and in every genre there’s no shortage of bands that command our full attention. In addition to scores of household names, many fledgling bands have cropped up in recent years – and they’re ambitious as hell. Mechelen-based Hippotraktor ranks in the latter category. They persuaded the Pelagic label to back their debut ‘Meridian’ and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Their progressive sound appeals to an entire generation of metalheads. What’s more, they boast loads of experience as the band members are also active in such bands as Psychonaut and L’Itch. Both live and on CD they erect a signature wall of sound that has endeared them to scores of fans. They are already a popular favourite in the club circuit and festival appearances are the next logical step in their evolution.
