Biography
Megadeth have been the most prolific of the Big Four of thrash over the years. Founded in 1983 by the two Daves – guitarist/lead vocalist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson - the band exploded onto the scene in 1985 with the release of ‘Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!’ and follow-up ‘Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?’. In the subsequent years, Megadeth raised the bar with the legendary ‘Rust in Peace’ (1989) and their biggest commercial success, 1992’s ‘Countdown to Extinction’. Megadeth are known for their complex song structures, gripping intensity, high-precision performance and a penchant for lyrics dealing with war, politics and death. Over the last decade and despite numerous personnel changes, Megadeth have remained a force in metal thanks to memorable live shows and acclaimed albums such as ‘Thirteen’ (201) and the Grammy Award winning ‘Dystopia’ (2016).
