Played at Graspop Metal Meeting
2006 / 2014 / 2016

After more than twenty years, Norway still sets the standard on the black metal scene. One of the pioneering bands that helped shape the scene and that has always had the balls to push the genre’s boundaries is Satyricon. Over the years their music evolved from epic to post-black, including the integration of industrial elements, while their last few albums explored the essence of the genre by stripping away all the meat from the music and leaving nothing but the skeleton. Their last, eponymous album ‘Satyricon’ dates back to 2013 but a new album is in the works. Also, 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the ‘Nemesis Divina’ album, which will be played in its entirety. (Text: Geert Struyven / Translation: Nick Devos)
