Steak Number Eight

Steak Number Eight
Played at Graspop Metal Meeting
2008 / 2011 / 2013 / 2016

Almost ten years ago, this young sludge/post metal quartet from Wevelgem, Belgium, won Humo’s Rock Rally. Shortly after, they released their first EP under their own steam and this was more than enough to earn a slot on several major festivals. Steak haven’t looked back since: the fact that their first full-length CD, ‘All Is Chaos’, was produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Alice in Chains) says it all.  Not as hard-hitting as its predecessor, their sophomore release ‘The Hutch’ (2013) features a fast-maturing band and the psychedelic sludge assault ‘Kosmokoma’ (2015) turns it up another notch. After outgrowing the Metal Dome, their first appearance in the Marquee was a slam dunk. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Steak Number Eight: if you’re into Deftones, Amenra and Dillinger Escape Plan, or if you’re looking for a band that just sounds interesting and different, then you should give these guys a listen. You won’t be disappointed. (Text: Nick Tronckoe / Translation: Nick Devos)
