Biography
This band is only fit for well-trained neck muscles. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, The Black Dahlia Murder favours aggressive blast beats and high-speed riffing with a melodic edge. Their 2003 debut 'Unhallowed' was a vicious kick that left guts winded all over the globe. Their live shows are extremely energetic and they cite the likes of Carcass, At the Gates, Morbid Angel and Megadeth among their influences. Their looks have led some to categorise them as metalcore but that’s a misnomer. Check out ‘Everblack’ (2013) and its high shrieks, low snarls, obliterating riffs and tempo changes will soon make you realise this is one of the most memorable melodic death metal bands around. On their most recent offering ‘Verminous’ (2020) melody and death metal still go hand in hand. Like no other they blend Morbid Angel and later era Carcass influences with the occasional whiff of metalcore. Now doesn’t that sound like the perfect mosh pit recipe? (#GMM21)
