Tiamat started out in the late 80s as a blackened death metal band but before long a remarkable evolution took place. Together with Moonspell and Rotting Christ they laid the groundwork for the dark metal genre that blended influences from black and doom metal with gothic elements to forge a new sound that would eventually help shape an entire generation of new bands. Still, Tiamat frontman Johan Edlund’s creative hunger wasn’t sated yet and his passion for Pink Floyd, which he inherited from his dad, gradually came to the fore. Over the past three decades Tiamat has never stood still and they’ve always stubbornly followed their own path but their popularity was never greater than when they unleashed ‘Wildhoney’. To celebrate the 1994 release of this landmark album, Tiamat are bringing us a set consisting entirely of tracks from this masterpiece and ‘Clouds’, the album that led up to it.
