Played at Graspop Metal Meeting
2011 / 2014 / 2018

Most prominent black metal bands today have been around since the advent of the genre in the early nineties. One of the most notable exceptions to this rule is probably Watain. Ever since their inception 15 years ago, they’ve left a trail of drugs, violence and blood. Over the years, there have been allegations of live animal sacrifices but none have been substantiated. Mind you, this band is not about image because on their two previous appearances the Swedes convinced both friend and foe. Watain combine the rawness of Bathory with the catchy harmonies of Dissection. From the black metal of ‘Rabid Death’s Curse’ to the melodic epic grandeur of ‘Lawless Darkness’, Watain’s sound keeps evolving. By the time GMM rolls around, the successor to the slightly more accessible ‘The Wild Hunt‘ (2013) will have dropped. Curious to find out what ‘Trident Wolf Eclipse’ sounds like? Rendezvous at GMM!
