Sacred Reich

Sacred Reich
Played at Graspop Metal Meeting 2009 / 2012 / 2016

Sacred Reich are a popular band from the mid-80s heydays of thrash. Starting out under the wings of manager Gloria Cavalera, the cheerful gang from Phoenix, Arizona, soon made a name for themselves through seminal records like ‘Surf Nicaragua’ (1987) and ‘The American Way’ (1990), albums that made a lasting impression on thrashers across the globe. Although 1997’s live compilation ‘Still Ignorant’ is the band’s last feat, Sacred Reich’s historical importance for the burgeoning thrash scene is not to be underestimated. They split in 2000 but the band was then revived in 2006. Electing not to record any new material, they prefer to simply play the old classics but that’s more than enough to whip the fans into a frenzy. (Text: Stef Maes / Translation: Nick Devos)
