Ellende

Melancholy, despair and beauty rarely go hand in hand as seamlessly as they do in Ellende’s music. Founded in 2011 by Austrian multi-instrumentalist L.G., the project has become one of the most respected names in atmospheric black metal. Through releases such as ‘Todbringer’ (2016), ‘Lebensnehmer’ (2019), ‘Ellenbogengesellschaft’ (2022) and the recent ‘Zerfall’ (2026), Ellende have crafted a distinctive sound that combines blistering black metal, sweeping melodies and moments of haunting introspection. Themes of isolation, loss and existential struggle run throughout their work, yet their music is never devoid of hope or beauty. Built around carefully layered compositions that balance aggression with atmosphere, Ellende’s songs unfold as emotional journeys rather than straightforward black metal assaults.
