British band Loathe is not the most well-known act on this year’s bill but their unique combination of metalcore and nu-metal with more experimental aspects from such genres as industrial & progressive metal and shoegaze has fuelled a steady rise through the ranks. To illustrate: in a 2020 poll by Revolver magazine they were voted the third most likely contemporary band to break into the mainstream. Their live performances are cinematic in character and inspired by the comic world in general. They consider their concerts as being akin to live performance art. Their influences include Deftones, Meshuggah, Slipknot and Korn. Radiohead inspired them to experiment musically, as on their instrumental ambient album ‘The Things They Believe’ (2021). Definitely a GMM debut to look out for! #GMM23
