2019 saw the resurrection of one of the most intriguing industrial/nu-metal bands from around the turn of the millennium. Static-X’s 1999 debut album ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ put them firmly on the map: their heavy industrial metal sound commanded attention in a period when nu-metal was the craze of the day. After five successful albums it was curtains and Wayne died on All Saints’ Day of the following year. Over and out? Yes, until the remaining members decide to reform in 2019 with a new singer, Xer0. Tickets for the reunion shows flew off the shelves and in October of that same year, a packed Trix in Antwerp witnessed first-hand that the original line-up of Koichi Fukuda (guitars), Tony Campos (bass), Ken Jay (drums) are still up for it and that Xer0 is the right man to take over from Wayne. The tour also marked the 20th anniversary of the release of ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’. With ‘Project: Regeneration Vol.1 & 2 (2020 & 2024), Campos, Fukuda, Ken Jay and Xer0  have convinced the doubters they can carry the band’s legacy. (#GMM26)
