Harakiri for the Sky specialise in a melancholic fusion of post-black metal and atmospheric post-rock, a sound that feels as introspective as it is expansive. The Austrian duo broke through with ‘III: Trauma’ (2016), but ‘Arson’ (2018) and ‘Mære’ (2021) truly cemented their reputation. Their music moves between blast-beaten intensity and shimmering, almost fragile passages, while the lyrics delve deep into depression, existential doubt and emotional isolation. There’s a raw honesty here that resonates far beyond genre boundaries. Despite the heavy subject matter, their songs often build towards cathartic climaxes rather than pure despair. On stage, that contrast translates into something immersive, drawing you in slowly before hitting with full force. (#GMM26)
