††† (read: Crosses) was formed in 2011 by two childhood friends: Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and guitarist Shaun Lopez. Their eponymous debut dropped early 2014 and follow-up ‘Good Night, God Bless, I Love U, Delete’ was unleashed just last year. In the intervening years, live shows and releases were few and far between, apart from several EPs in the early years and a number of singles. Their music has been described as electronic rock or dark wave/pop, while all comparisons to witch house end with imagery and aesthetics. ‘Good Night, God Bless, I Love U, Delete’ is a collection of tracks that are carried by a despondent, creepy atmosphere while transporting the listener to a place of hope where wonderful fantasies intertwine with gruesome nightmares. One of the standout tracks is ‘Girls Float + Boys Cry’, with a haunting contribution by The Cure chief Robert Smith. Sinister vibes, keyboards and electronica, wrapped in a melancholic blanket.
