Death is widely regarded as one of the most influential metal bands ever. Almost four decades after their initial release, records like ‘Scream Bloody Gore’ and ‘Leprosy’ have become genuine classics that have effortlessly stood the test of time. Chuck Schuldiner was never one to rest on his laurels and he continued to push the boundaries of the genre he pioneered. His relentless pursuit of progress and innovation led him to incorporate more progressive structures in his music, thereby moving away from traditional death metal. The future was looking bright for this guitar hero until Schuldiner was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He died on 13 December 2001 and Death subsequently disbanded. Then in 2012 several former Death members decided to pay tribute to one of the most influential metal musicians under the moniker ‘Death to All’. The backbone of Death to All is singer/guitarist Max Phelps (Obscura, ex-Cynic), drummer Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel) and bass beast Steve DiGiogio (Sadus). Depending on their schedule, the second guitarist slot is filled by Bobby Koelble or Paul Masdival (Cynic). Following their 2020 GMM debut they’re back for more with a special ‘Symbolic Healing’ centred around, obviously, the albums ‘Spiritual Healing’ and ‘Symbolic’. (#GMM26)
