When Sepultura formed in Belo Horizonte back in 1984, the band founded by Max and Igor Cavalera was one of a handful of bands who were ground zero for the Brazilian thrash scene. After rising to fame on the strength of such seminal releases as ‘Beneath the Remains’ (1989) and Arise (1991), their fifth slab ‘Chaos A.D.’ (1996) further cemented their status as one of the scene’s leading lights and helped lay the groundwork for the rise of groove metal. Fast-forward thirty years to the present day and the album is not only one of the legendary metal albums from that era, it has effortlessly stood the test of time. In celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of this masterpiece, the Cavalera brothers are touring Europe this summer with a set list that sees them performing ‘Chaos A.D.’ in its entirety. (#GMM26)
