Emerging in 2019, Mantah is the brainchild of ex-Spoil Engine guitarist Bart Vandeportaele and Fields of Troy throat Sven Herssens. Their style is described as modern metal with a nod to the 90s. Expect heavy, pounding music and gripping and varied vocals and melodies. Mantah themselves describe their output as an amalgam of ‘new’ and ‘nu’. They take inspiration from nu-metal giants such as Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Static-X but more recent offshoots such as While She Sleeps, BMtH and I Prevail are also subtly incorporated. Their love of electronic music also shines through in the use of breakbeats, samples and synths on their studio debut ‘Evoke’ that hit the shelves in late October 2022. Sophomore effort ‘Antidote’ (2025) picks up where ‘Evoke’ left off. The tracks are frantic, catchy and overflowing with energy. Musically they’ve levelled up from their promising debut and there’s even a surprising but very effective cover of Seal’s ‘Crazy’. As the opening band on the main stage this is a great opportunity to dip their toes into the big leagues and we’ve every confidence that they’re primed and ready! (#GMM26)
