For over forty years, Megadeth have been one of the driving forces in thrash. Founded in 1983 by guitarist/lead vocalist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, the band exploded onto the scene in 1985 with the release of ‘Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!’ and follow-up ‘Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?’. In the subsequent years, Megadeth raised the bar with the legendary ‘Rust in Peace’ (1989) and their biggest commercial success, 1992’s ‘Countdown to Extinction’. Megadeth are known for their complex song structures, gripping intensity, high-precision performance and a penchant for lyrics dealing with war, politics, religion, death and personal relationships. Over the last few decades and despite numerous personnel changes, Megadeth have remained a force in metal thanks to memorable live shows and acclaimed albums such as ‘Thirteen’ (2011) and the Grammy Award winning ‘Dystopia’ (2016). Their most recent outing ‘The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead’ was released in 2022 to much critical acclaim. We’re also looking forward to hearing their new axe man Teemu Mäntsyaari perform live for the first time after stepping in as the replacement for long-time guitarist Kiko Loureiro. (#GMM24)
