Both Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner earned their stripes long before they decided to join forces in 1997. The following year, Primal Fear’s self-titled album stormed the German charts. Sophomore album ‘Jaws of Death’ cemented their reputation on the European mainland and 2001’s ‘Nuclear Fire’ put Primal Fear on the map in the States. In the subsequent years there were a lot of line-up changes but the Scheepers/Sinner tandem never slowed down. Despite being firmly rooted in classic heavy/power metal, Primal Fear have a fresh take on the genre so they never sound dated, as illustrated by ‘Unbreakable’ (2011) and ‘Delivering the Black’ (2014). Throughout their career, Primal Fear have remained loyal to their roots: big riffs, Priest-style vocals and metal without compromise. Through shifting trends and an ever-evolving scene, they remain a constant force. Look out for tracks off their most recent slab, ‘2025’s ‘Domination’, which met with very favourable reviews. (#GMM26)
