Spectral Wound conjure black metal in its purest, most feral form. Hailing from Montreal and formed in 2014, the band rejects posturing and pretence in favour of sheer sonic violence, rooted in the second-wave tradition but with a modern edge. With no studio trickery or ambient filler, Spectral Wound channel icy melodies through scorched-earth riffs and relentless drumming, creating an atmosphere that’s both haunting and electrifying. Their breakout album ‘Infernal Decadence’ (2018) established them as purveyors of uncompromising black metal, while ‘A Diabolic Thirst’ (2021) further cemented their reputation, with critics praising its blistering energy and melodic sophistication.
