Following the release of the acclaimed EP ‘Infinite Death’ (2008) and their full-length debut ‘The Adversary’ (2010), Aussie deathcore heroes TAIM quickly gained recognition as one of the leading bands on the deathcore scene. On their sophomore album ‘Hate’ they vented their dissatisfaction with many of the political, social and environmental ills of modern society. Generally considered a deathcore band, their love of extreme metal in general is obvious on ‘Holy War’, most notably with several Behemoth-inspired passages. CJ McMahon quit the band in 2015 but returned to the fold two years later, in time for the ‘Dear Desolation’ album that has a more pronounced lean towards traditional death metal, with whiffs of black metal thrown in. The result was hailed as their best work to date and they continued in the same vein on their most recent two slabs, with ‘Godlike’ as their latest contribution (2023). As far as their live reputation goes, their shows are notoriously ferocious. Thy Art Is Murder is not just food for deathcore fiends but also for fans of Behemoth, Meshuggah and Cannibal Corpse to name but a few. (#GMM24)
