Is it metalcore? Is it pop punk? Or post-hardcore? A Day to Remember have always defied categorisation and that is exactly what makes them so intriguing. Since their 2005 debut ‘And Their Name Was Treason’, the Florida outfit have forged a unique sound that blends the aggression of metalcore with the singalong hooks of punk pop. Their breakthrough came with ‘Homesick’ (2009) and smashed genre boundaries with fan favourites like ‘The Downfall of Us All’. Rarely has mosh pit fury sounded this catchy. Known for their high-energy live shows and down-to-earth attitude, the band know how to make chaos feel like a celebration. Lyrically they deal with loss, self-doubt, defiance and personal growth. Early last year they surprise-released ‘Big Ole Album, Vol. 1’, an album that balances the heavy sonics of their early days with melodic hooks. (#GMM26)
