Few bands have reshaped their sound as radically as Bring Me the Horizon. What started in Sheffield as a ferocious deathcore outfit on ‘Count Your Blessings’ (2006) has evolved into one of the most forward-thinking acts in modern heavy music. The turning point came with ‘Sempiternal’ (2013), where electronic textures and melody began to seep into their metalcore framework, opening the door to a much broader audience. By the time ‘amo’ (2019) landed, guitars were no longer the sole driving force, yet the band’s identity remained unmistakable. Oli Sykes has always written from a deeply personal place, touching on addiction, mental health and the darker corners of modern life without dressing it up and that honesty has carried through every stylistic shift. Whether it’s crushing riffs or digital experimentation, Bring Me the Horizon never sound like they’re chasing trends. They set them, often a few steps ahead of the rest. (#GMM26)
