The Plot in You have come a long way from their early metalcore roots, gradually trading pure aggression for a broader, more controlled sound. Where breakdowns once dominated, there’s now just as much space for melody, atmosphere and restraint. If you’re new to them and want to delve into their catalogue, ‘Could You Watch Your Children Burn’ (2013) captures that initial ferocity, while ‘Happiness in Self Destruction’ (2015) marks a clear turning point, pushing toward a more introspective approach. More recent releases continue down that path, blurring the line between alternative metal and emotionally driven rock. Frontman Landon Tewers has never shied away from vulnerability and that emotional candour runs through their lyrics. The shift in sound may have split parts of their early audience but it also gave the band a stronger, more distinct identity. Heavy or stripped back, The Plot in You are at their best when they let that honesty speak for itself. (#GMM26)
