Thornhill are a modern metalcore outfit whose first few years were spent releasing singles and sharing the stage with the likes of Architects, Northlane and Parkway Drive. They made a name for themselves with their 2019 full-length debut ‘The Dark Pool’ (2019) and its mix of shimmering guitars and dense layering. Rather than chasing that sound, ‘Heroine’ (2022) took a left turn, leaning further into alternative rock and a more restrained aesthetic. This caught some early fans off-guard but it did underline their willingness to evolve. That sense of restraint runs through everything they do, both musically and lyrically, with themes of desire and self-reflection. Their most recent outing ‘Bodies’ won the 2025 ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album; just months later, ‘Bodies X’ dropped, a new version of the album where each track was reinterpreted by friends of the band or musicians they admire.
